Boys Before Friends' Final Leading Lady

With the American version of Boys Over Flowers premiering on Viki December 26, it's about time they decided on a permanent leading lady. I'm so very relieved that they settled on Dawn Morrow, an experienced actress and dancer for the role.

Dawn Morrow cast as Zoey (Makino Tsukushi) in Boys Before Friends, the American remake of Boys Over Flowers.

Age:  27
Height:  5'2"
Weight:  108 lbs
Hometown:  Jacksonville, FL

According to IMDb, Dawn began dancing at age four, and acting at 13. She's had small or uncredited roles on shows like Unfabulous, Victorious and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The good news is that she does have talent in both acting and dancing, which gives me hope for Boys Before Friends.

  1. She seems to be good but the problem lies in production. With a week left before the premiere this happens. They are nuts. Good luck.

    1. So true. The production company is really iffy. They don't update their website at all, put out low quality trailers with the first replacement leading lady in them - but with the first leading lady's name on the credits, and don't seem organized or competent at all. However, I'm going to approach this as if I'm watching a production coming out of a third world country and try to find the good in the performances. Or... the First Impressions article will be a vent-fest. We'll see how it goes. :p Good luck to them.

    2. So the BBF team posted this on their FB:

"Just to clarify...Claude with only be present in the first episode and the beginning of the second episode.

We will reshoot episode 1 and the beginning of episode 2 at a later time.

      Thanks for the support!!!"

Someone asked why they don't just push back the premiere and they replied:

" We were on a deadline and couldn't push the premier back anymore, therefore we could only reshoot scenes from episode 2. Also, maybe after watching the first episode you and other viewers will understand why there were a few cast changes."

I don't even know what to say about this.

    3. Note: "Claude" is Claude Racine who replaced Riley Rae Baker as Zoey, but then got replaced by Dawn Morrow.

  2. I think they are new to this...a production company has to start some where...I do hope as time passes and more episodes air, things will all fit into place.

    1. You could be right, but they presented themselves in the MDL article as a team that has worked on three projects before this one, and that the company is run by 10-20 year industry professionals. http://mydramalist.com/article/2013/09/21/boys-over-flowers-american-remake-ask-your-questions

I do hope everything falls in order for them, though. Dawn Morrow is a huge step in the right direction, so I'm going to make a point of watching episode two before posting a First Impressions article about the series.

    1. I know, right? I thought she did a good job. The production company implied that she didn't have chemistry with the leading man. But she could have left because of the unprofessionalism of the company, as did the two leads later on. Now the whole thing is on hold and I don't know if they'll ever resume filming.
