Teaser:// New Group: BTL (Beyond the Limit)

Eye-catching teaser has been released for new 9 member boy group BTL, Beyond the Limit. The website at Kiroy Company seems to be down (at the moment that this was posted)due to extreme traffic that they just cannot handle. The boys show off some martial arts like moves with special effects and it doesn't hurt that they are all shirtless. I am expecting some fierce choreography along with a lot of charisma from these boys. And though, at first, I was slightly reluctant to even care for hearing about them because the name was too similar to my boys BTS, or BLT, bacon lettuce and tomato,(That's a petty reason not to give these guys a shot.) the view of abs all over the place changed my mind pretty quickly and I decided hell why not give them a shot.

Based on the photos I've seen of the boys on SNS, the concept seems to be a masculine, rogue ninja vibe. Some members have their faces covered, one wearing a 'BANE' like face mask. Each member holding different items, majority of them holding weapons which include a bow, and hockey stick. One member did catch my eye as he was holding a martini glass. I'm cool with that. Their logo has a vibe that seemed quite similar to the logo of 'Transformers'.

Scheduled to debut on May 15th, I do hope BTL has a strong debut to match the powerful teaser and photos that have been released before hand. Fighting!

Fangirling:// Doctor Stranger

For Batzy-chan... <3

Lee Jong Suk 이종석 as Park Hoon in Doctor Stranger 닥터 이방인 - Shower Scene.

First Impressions:// Big Man

Big Man 빅맨 Korean drama poster.

The synopsis for Big Man left me unimpressed. However, it's hard for me to pass up Kang Ji Hwan. He had me at Hong Gil Dong and I've been hoping to see him in a dynamic, satisfying role again. I did love him in Coffee House, but his talents really weren't utilized to the fullest in his last two dramas.

But again, the synopsis that seemed to tell the whole story, was still not interesting to me. Then I watched the first two episodes and got pulled in. Kang Ji Hwan does not disappoint, and his character, who is both badass and sweet, has a lot of potential for growth and inspiring others to grow as well.

Kang Ji Hwan 강지환 as Kim Ji Hyuk, stands next to his wanted poster in the police station.

Kang Ji Hwan plays Kim Ji Hyuk, an ex-thug in the process of clearing his name, as he's under suspicion for a crime he didn't commit. The police know him well, the criminals in town know him well, but he's really a nice guy.

Ji Hyuk arrives with a big bunch of helium balloons. / Ji Hyuk and friend, Dae Sup, at the river, watching the balloons fly away with Dae Sup's father's ashes.

Seriously, Ji Hyuk is thoughtful and caring to everyone. When his friend's father died without ever having gone on a trip abroad, he rushed over with balloons so that at least the ashes could take flight. These gestures have an impact on the people around him, and it will be interesting to see what kind of effect this will have in the new enviroment he will find himself in.

Choi Daniel 최다니엘 as Kang Dong Suk, is startled in his car as Ji Hyuk runs in front of him.

Kang Dong Suk (Daniel Choi) is the son of the very rich Kang Sung Wook (Uhm Hyo Sup), but he has a heart condition. He's a stark contrast to the rough and tumble orphan, Ji Hyuk.  Dong Suk winds up in the hospital in dire need of a heart transplant and the only way to bypass the waiting list is for a family member to donate a heart.

Uhm Hyo Sup 엄효섭 as Kang Sung Wook, surrounded by reporters as he leaves the hospital.

The rich family, of course, has access to all the medical records in town, and finds a match in Ji Hyuk. It's arranged for him to be added to the family and sent to the hospital in a brain dead state. However, he miraculously survives and the family is stuck with him, with reporters grabbing hold of the story of Sung Wook finding his lost son. Thus the scene is set.

Jang Tae Sung 장태성 as Yang Dae Sup and Ji Hyuk watch in awe as Lee Da Hee 이다희 as So Mi Ra sings for the crowd in the restaurant.

Dong Suk's assistant, So Mi Ra (Lee Da Hee) is assigned to taking care of Ji Hyuk. In contrast to having to hide her relationship with Dong Suk from his disapproving parents, she feels comfortable in Ji Hyuk's world. Mi Ra is beautiful and poised. Working for the Kang family has made her efficient and guarded. She is the iceberg to Ji Hyuk's innocent goofball and it works.

Ji Hyuk greets orphans and covers one with kisses while Mi Ra looks on.

After learning the circumstances in which Ji Hyuk became involved in the family, Mi Ra is tempted to kill him (when opportunities present themselves) in order to save Dong Suk, but seeing his warm personality, her heart is moved.  DramaWiki had me thinking she was an assassin or something; not the case.

Ji Hyuk visits his new family, Cha Hwa Yun 차화연 as Choi Yoon Jung, Sung Wook, and Jung So Min 정소민 as Kang Jin Ah.

Kang Jin Ah (Jung So Min), Dong Suk's little sister, has an almost leading lady chemistry with Ji Hyuk, and is suspicious about his connection to the family. Their scenes together are abrasive and charming, and there's potential for her to suffer from Second Leading Lady syndrome.

Sung Wook looks for another solution for Dong Suk, and tries to keep Ji Hyuk happy, while scheming to get rid of him quietly. Ji Hyuk, however, is smarter than he bargained for and things get complicated, especially since the media is watching them closely.

So far there has been foot chases, car chases, fist fights, scheming, medical emergencies, warmth, chemistry and intrigue. Big Man is off to a good start and I suspect its momentum will continue to build.

In the City:// AJ of U-KISS

After a long night of fun in the city, a friend and I decided to walk back down the strip of K-Town in Manhattan and go "Sight Seeing". Now, if you know me, Sight Seeing refers to checking out the guys. While walking, I spot this cute guy sitting on the steps, messing with his phone. While passing him, I catch a glimpse of his facial profile. He doesn't look up, completely focused on his phone. And I walk away and decided to do a double take.

Oh sh**, he looks like AJ of U-KISS?!

A few thoughts scrambled in my mind, and after a faint reassurance of my friend agreeing that there is a slight possibility that it actually WAS him, I decided it F**K it. He was outside, just him and his phone. This is perfect.

*fangirl ninja mode activated*

I walked back to him and said "Excuse me?" in my sweet voice. (I kid you not when I say this.)He looked up from his phone and I SWEAR TO YOU, you know camera effect in dramas with the fuzzy, calming shot and sparkles when a cute guy comes in the scene, that is was I saw when he looked up at me. O_o *dies*

Aren't you AJ from U-KISS?
With a shy and almost shocked look, he leans back and covers his mouth to laugh, then confirms my suspicion.
Yes, I am. *holds out hand for a shake* Thanks for noticing me.

Thanks for noticing me? More like thanks for talking to ME. (He was too cute.) We (my friend and I) had a conversation, in K-Town, at 4AMish with him while he waited for some friends to get out of a near by restaurant.

Now, it's a known fact that AJ is going to Columbia University. And I did ask about when he would return for a comeback with the guys of U-KISS. Since it's finals week, he has been focusing a lot of his schooling. I wished him luck and went on my way. Not only was I extremely proud of myself for actually having the guts to walk up to him and hold a conversation with out overflowing with feels but I was a little shocked about how laid back and down to earth AJ was. I am thankful that he took the time out to chat and thought it was completely adorable when he smiled. He's pretty cool. He really was just a normal guy. (Not really, it's fking AJ of UKISS - for the love of KPOP but you know what I mean.)

PupChan already yelled at me for not talking a selca with him. There was a reason for that:
I contained the feels. I did not want to do what would usually happen and he was used to from anyone that met him. I was already a random person talking to him at 4am. Initially, I felt like going up to him and talking was a nuisance already. I definitely did not want to bug him for a pic or autograph. I am sure he likes a break from that every once in a while.

So case in point, this is not to rub it in anyone's face that I met him but the opposite. Meeting up with a KPOP star can be super random and awesome at the same time.I am sure many fangirls think they won't meet idols unless they go to Korea or maybe even never. Some run around trying to find them. Sometimes things just happen. If you do run into an idol, remember they are people too and respect them and the privacy they have. I am sure its cool to say hi but know your boundaries and don't get all sasaeng about it. If you meet one and he isn't your bias, prepare to possibly have your bias list ruined.
On that note, thanks for reading. AJ, thanks for chatting. Hope you didn't wait too long for your friends, the weather was getting chilly out. Good luck on those finals. Thanks for screwing up my bias list too. <3

First Impressions:// A New Leaf

A New Leaf 개과천선 poster featuring Chae Jung Ahn 채정안, Kim Myung Min 김명민, Park Min Young 박민영 and Kim Sang Joong 김상중.

MBC's new 18 episode legal drama pairs iceberg super lawyer Kim Suk Joo (Kim Myung Min) with silly yet competent intern Lee Ji Yoon (Park Min Young). And if that isn't enough, the iceberg is going to get amnesia and have to figure out who he is. So this may not be a typical case of the girl having to melt the iceberg, but maybe the girl being melted by the iceberg's true self? We'll have to see.

Bird's eye view of a crowded courtroom.

The first two episodes are all about introductions and setting the scene, but they do it in an entertaining way so that you don't really mind the explanations by way of interviews and informative conversations.

Kim Suk Joo argues in court while elderly victims watch in dismay.

Suk Joo shows himself to be merciless and precise in court as he represents a rich despicable company against the weak and abused citizens. After all, he works for a big prestigious firm that does anything for money.

Kim Myung Min is perfect for the role. He's believable, his voice is to die for, and we know he does iceberg well (Beethoven's Virus, The King of Dramas). I anticipate some comedic moments for him once he loses his memory, which is exciting because we also know that he does emotional comedy well (Bad Family).

Ji Yoon hangs on Suk Joo's neck. / Ji Yoon faces Suk Joo at the law firm.

Suk Joo and Ji Yoon's first encounter is less than dignified; actually it's hilarious. Min Young later learns that she's interning under Suk Joo and that's when things really get interesting.

Park Min Young looking uncertain, chagrined and horrified.

I have missed Park Min Young and am so glad to see her come back in a role that takes her physical comedy to new heights. She has a rare balance of being pretty and cute at the same time, and she also makes you believe in her characters' skill and intelligence. How can that adorable bunny be kick ass and smart? I don't know, but she makes it work.

Suk Joo faces off with prosecutor Lee Sun Hee while Ji Yoon looks on.

As the "idealistic intern" gets to know the "lawyer without a conscience" by watching him work, she feels more affinity with the prosecutor he bumps heads with. It's clear that they will have different approaches that can both potentially garner favorable results, and thus they can learn from each other. What effect the amnesia will have on this dynamic is anyone's guess.

Cha Young Woo toasts to an agreement in a private dining room.

Cha Young Woo (Kim Sang Joong) as the ruthless head of the law firm, makes backroom deals and is as unethical as they come. He seems to have a heart, but that may be only as long as he's getting the results he expects. The firm is being investigated and being backed into a corner could bring out the worst in him.

Jin Yi Han 진이한 as Jun Ji Won, and also as Tal Tal from Empress Ki 기황후 / Kim Suh Hyung 김서형 as Lee Sun Hee, and also as the Empress Dowager from Empress Ki.

It's nice to see two familiar faces fresh from the hit drama, Empress Ki. Jin Yi Han plays Jun Ji Won, a well read man that Ji Yoon's friend tries to pair her up with. Ji Yoon was very interested, but unfortunately got sidetracked and hasn't seen him since the beginning of episode one. Well, he's listed in the main cast, so we're bound to see more of him soon. Like hopefully starting in episode three! Will he get the girl? Will he suffer from SLM syndrome? It'll be interesting how writer Choi Hee Ra spins it. Her two medical dramas got respectable ratings, so I'm expecting a quality story.

Kim Suh Hyung plays prosecutor Lee Sun Hee, and it's unclear how big her role will be, but she's clearly a beacon of justice and a good example for Ji Yoon to aspire to. The rest of the cast is solid and overall a good synergy is created right from the start.

Whether Suk Joo and Ji Yoon couple up or not, they play off of each other superbly. So far I'm hooked and impatient to see more.

Fangirling:// Aaron Yan Takes It Off

Alright, it was more comical than provocative, but fangirls everywhere can oogle Aaron's thighs as he does a quick change in a scene from Fall in Love with Me. Thank you, A Bu. And thank you writer, for including fan service in episode three. It's much appreciated.

Aaron Yan (Arron Yan) Yan Ya Lun 炎亞綸 as Lu Tian Xing 路天行 / Xiao Lu 小鹿 changing clothes in Fall in Love with Me 愛上兩個我 / Ai Shang Liang Ge Wo.
